WHITE STATION 2010-2011
The Spartans coming off a TSSAA
state runner up finish last year return a solid core
after losing seven seniors from last years team but
head coach Jesus Patino in his sixth year at White
Station likes what he sees.
Minnesota
signee
Andre Hollins
(6'2 -
175 lbs.,
rivals #142)
will lead a very solid three seniors that already horne
a state championship ring on their resume.
Andre Hollins
will not try to duplicate Joe
Jackson (Memphis)
but display his solid game that has grown ten fold
culminating with a very strong summer circuit
performance with Memphis Magic Elite.
Hollins
will carry a lot of the scoring
load but the task will be handled with due diligence as
his experience will pay off all season long in
retrospect. The Spartans swank a solid front line that
is just as strong as district counterpart
Memphis Central
in seniors Nino Johnson (6'8 -
225 lbs.,
rivals #)
heading to
SEMO
(South East Missouri) and down low partner
Marvin Williams (6'8 -
255 lbs.,
rivals #)
who is headed to
David Lipscomb University
will wear down many teams with their height and size in
the long run and very important games. One of the top
freshman in the country
Leron Black (6'7 -
195 lbs.,
rivals #)
will contribute as expected and will have big numbers in
many games all season long. A major plus for all these
young men is their experience from advancing in
postseason action, including everyone's involvement in
top summer circuit programs in the Memphis area.
High profile
players place you in major nationwide tournaments
as the Spartans enjoyed last year. This year travel
schedule will be very interesting but no where near as
strong from last year with
Hollins
late surge to crack the top 50
Rivals would of garnered more high profile tournaments
but this kid is going to be big time seriously, he plays
with so much confidence, strong, and high knowledge of
the game to do whatever it takes to win any ball game at
hand. On Dec. 2-4 they will attend the first annual
Mike Miller
Classic at Lausanne Collegiate High School,
two different classics with different sites for
reference. First
time the Spartans in many years will play in home town
tournament Martin Luther King Thanksgiving Tournament at
Melrose High School. December will start with
White Station
traveling to Bowling Green, Kentucky in the Mini Mart
TN-KY Challenge on December 11. 2010. Christmas
tournament includes a trip to Mitchell, South Dakota fro
the first annual
Mike Miller Classic
.
Finish off with Dyer County in the Martin Luther Classic
at the beautiful Fed Ex Forum in downtown Memphis.
Juniors William Woodfork
(6'0 - 180 lbs. diamond
in the rough) and
Rodriguez Tucker
(6'4 - 180 lbs. diamond
in the rough) will
contribute handily all season long as both players are
definitely have familiarity with high profile and
postseason games. Another freshman
Davell Roby
(6'4 - 180 lbs. diamond
in the rough) to keep an eye on
as the season progresses.
