RALEIGH EGYPT 2008-2009

The Dynamic "5"
There
is much speculation about this could be the last season
for the great Coach Adams. If this is the last ride for
Coach Adams his players seem to be inspired. This
Raleigh Egypt team is playing as 1 unite. When I watch
them play it looks like they are having fun. This could
be the year for Coach Adams. Raleigh Egypt has arguably
the best starting five in the City. This team has been
playing together for sometime now and its hard for me to
pick against them.
1.
Gentry Hinds:
Gentry looked good in the
Jamboree. He was having fun and looked healthy. When on
the bench he cheered for his teammates. I look for
Gentry to have a super year and lead this team to the
State Tourney.
(Winning
formula)
Gentry 1st has to become a better leader.
Guys look up to him and he has to lead them in a
positive way. Gentry 17pts 6ast 6rbds 4stls per game.
Get most of those points from the free-throw line and
this team is unstoppable.
2.
Anthony Jones:
This kid jumped onto the scene and
never looked back. Anthony at 6’4 can do many things. If
Raleigh Egypt really wants top make it to state some
players are going to have to sacrifice.
(Winning formula)
Anthony can get 30pts
a game if needed, but that’s not what's best for this
team. If Anthony get 16pts 10rbds 7ast 3stls 2blks a
game this team will be on point. These numbers are
reachable for Anthony because he is so versatile.
3.
Ronald “Tank” Brown:
With so much expected of him coming out of middle school
it looks like Tank is finally coming into his own. The
expectations have always been high for this kid. This
will be the year everybody has been waiting for. Tank
has improved his mid-range jumper and ball-handling.
(Winning formula)
Tank doesn’t get caught up in a position. This is the
most versatile team in the city and whatever Coach Adams
ask of him he will do it.Tank 10pts 12rbds 3ast 2blks
and take 3 charges a game.
4.
Jeremy
Holmes:
There
are no jealous bones in this kid’s body. I coached him
this summer with the hoopers and “Poo Mane” was about
winning. Jeremy is a natural leader and understands the
PG roll like a coach. Jeremy is cool and calm under
pressure and it’s hard to rattle him.
(Winning formula)
Like all the other guys Jeremy will have to sacrifice
also. He will have to keep other guys happy being the
PG. I see Jeremy attempting about 5 3-pointers per game.
If Jeremy can be efficient and make 3 he will keep the
defense honest. Jeremy 11pts 5ast 3rbds 3stls per game.
5.
Reggie Fondren:
The
second most versatile player in the city. Reggie can
play all-five positions in high school basketball. The
thing that really makes him special is his DEFENSE!
This summer I gave Reggie the assignment of guarding
Jon Hood (Kentucky
signee and #7 SG in the Nation)
Reggie
held his own with Hood and showcased his Defense. The
next day was his best showing. I gave Reggie the
assignment of guarding
John Jenkins (Vandy
signee and #8 SG in the Nation)
Reggie locked this guy down! John Jenkins is a 30pts
scorer and he only got 4 Buckets against Reggie. Reggie
attacked Jenkins on offense and smothered him on
defense. The Hoopers went up by as much as 25 in the 1st
half of play. Reggie is a hard noise player and one of
the best defenders in the State.
(Winning
formula)
Reggie will have to be the defensive stopper . Guard the
opposing teams best player every night and give it his
best effort. Reggie Fondren 10pts 10rbds 5stls 3ast
2blks all in a nights work.
