MAGIC 2010
A great program ran by Eric
'Cowboy" Robinson and in it's 4th year of existence (Mid
South Basketball Academy) has accomplished a
lot from winning a national tournament last year at the Adidas
Super 64 and sending three of it's players to the
University of Memphis propelling Memphis to a Number 1
recruiting ranking. This years team will be another
strong Memphis team representing the bluff city handily.
The Magic will be led by
Adonis Thomas
(6'6 - 205 lbs.,
rivals #11)
excellent overall athletic play and dynamic inside moves
plus an improving outside jump shot have many schools
vying for his services. Another high school counterpart
at Melrose Chris Jones
(5'10 - 175 lbs.,
rivals #36-Tennessee)
via Hargrave Academy is one of the best scoring guards
in the country who can do it all from drives to the rim
and great outside shooting. Another strong scoring left
handed guard Martavious
Newby ((6'2 - 185 lbs.,
rivals #BTW)
will be a very special player to watch this summer. Two
of the best big men in the city and well coached by
White Station Coach Jesus Patino:
Nino Johnson
(6'7 - 205 lbs.,
rivals #-White Station)
strong postseason play will curtail into the summer
months and sophomore
Marvin Williams
(6'7 - 215 lbs.,
rivals #36-Tennessee)
will handle the middle and gain a lot of experience on
the circuit. Another high school team mate that will
lead the Spartans in 2011-
Andre Hollins (6'2 - 185 lbs.,
rivals #73 - White Station) Only senior on the team
Jakarious Bradley
(6'5 - 175 lbs.,
rivals #36-Tennessee)
will be a steal for many Division 1 programs.
Memphis Select will participate in
several high profile tournaments starting
with the Real Deal in the Rock April 16-18, then follow
up the next weekend in Dallas at the Next Level
Tournament. Other tournaments during the season and
wrapping up the season in Las Vegas to defend their
title in Adidas Super 64 on July 22-26 2010.
