2014-2015

Germantown,
a Shelby County high school that sits east of
the outskirts of Memphis and has always been
successful especially in football with history
holding multiple TSSAA
State Championships.
Red Devils
basketball program has been in a hiatus since the last
time Hoopers staff did a team bio it was 2009
and here is a excerpt
Germantown 2009 Team.
Coach Marvis Davis
in his four years at the helm has compiled an
77-21 record in the highly competitive
Division AAA in the
Memphis area where they are presently 13-2 going
into the holidays.
Southwind Middle has produced some great
high school basketball coaches with
Coach Paul Edwards
presently at Southwind High and
TSSAA 2013
Champions. Coach Marvis
Davis took over after him and only lost 5
games in his four years at the middle school and
now has
transformed Germantown basketball into an local
force to reckon with. The junior class at
Germantown led by
Darrell Brown whom in the
Hoopers eyes is one of the top 3 guards in the city
overall. The junior class is the best not only locally
but statewide hands down and will make serious
noise in postseason action and are favorites to the
Hoopers staff to make it to sub state
respectively and maybe Murfreesboro. College
coaches need to flock to Germantown to view one
of the 8 juniors in this class, classes of this
magnitude at one school come in cycles that spar
10 or more years easily. This group of young men
have a serious chance of not only going to sub
state and beyond but winning it all.

Junior
Darrell Brown (5'10
- 165 lbs., future150
- #)
had a good summer
circuit season with
Team Penny 16's.
The versatile, can do it all point guard
with a strong build is definitely a top 3 guard
in the city as a junior and we mean overall
including the present seniors around.
Brown
with his great ball handling skills, court vision, and ability to take over a
game especially when his teammates need an vital
score. He has proven over and over again in this
short start of the high school season with
midway of the season less than a week away.
This year
District
15-AAA should have
an representative
along side 800 lb. Hamilton in postseason action
with advancement on the horizon.
Another junior that
is a 2 sport
player
Dacoda Stone (5'8
- 150 lbs.,
future150
- #)
and his success in baseball has translated into
handling basketball situations with quick
thinking and what to do next in split second
time on the court.
Stone
ball handling skills are really good and
decision making on where to shot and setting up
his teammates is some of the best makes Hoopers
staff has seen. Remember compadres, Chris
Chiozza was great in baseball also that
translated in to basketball prowess.
Junior
Michael Bramrick (6'1
- 180 lbs.,
rivals
- #)
is one of the top shooters on the basketball
squad where his range is not limited to anywhere
on the court in strong fashion with a beautiful
rotation on his shot.
Bramrick
high basketball IQ and a young man that everyone
needs to keep an eye on accordingly.
Junior and do I have to say junior again because all
these great young men are juniors respectively. Junior
Rodney Williams (6'5
- 195 lbs., future150
#) brings super toughness
off the football court where he is a
Best Of Preps
wide receiver 2014.
Williams
will battle for every rebound
around the rim and his patience on offense is in double
double strong fashion at the same time he averages over
4 blocks a game on defense. Junior
Jacob Ivy (6'6
- 205 lbs., future150
#) play in the paint will
be a hard task for other district counterparts to
contain and control with his explosiveness toward the
rim.
Ivy
midrange game is also a threat where defenders will have
to come out and defend.
Another junior is
Jonathan Bins
(6'1 - 170 lbs., future150
#) who probably is the most
athletic player on the team plus the best defender also
overall and when this young man reaches his potential he will
make people shake their heads.
Germantown
will participate in one Hall of Fame against
Arlington and won handily. They start with a
great local event that has been around for 44
years
The Martin Luther King Tournament and
come away with runner up. They will play in the
Memphis - Atlanta Classic and defeated both of
their opponents Stevenson and
Whitfield Academy
respectively. The
Red Devils travel way down south to Fort Walton,
Florida for
The Go Southern Beach Blowout
Classic. December 26-30, 2014. They
finish their out of district schedule with a
game in The Penny Hardaway Classic and will be pitted
against Louisiana defending state champions
University High.
Junior
Chris Willett (6'2
- 180 lbs., future150
#) might
be undersized but his
play around the rim is rock solid and he also
comes off the football bringing extra toughness.
Junior
Casper Forman (6'3
- 210 lbs., future150
#) another one of
those tough
football players on the basketball squad but his
fundamental
skill set is good and
will garner valuable minutes off the bench in
support staff.
Can you believe I am finally saying sophomore,
Lollll but seriously sophomore
Tyron Davis (5'10
- 160 lbs., future150
#)
will definitely get a lot of experience playing
with this group of upper classmen and with him
being very athletic this young man will be
another one in line to pay close attention too
compadres!
