West
Memphis, Ark. traveling
to the Memphis area for a regular season basketball game
was a surprise especially with all the back and forth
between both cities on prize recruits going across the
bridge. One thing Coach Bray will do is go and play the
best talent on their court if they have a big boy
recruit. Last time the Red Devils made the trip was in
2004 to Mitchell High
School for a matchup
with McDonalds All American Thaddeus Young. Everybody
wants to play Jarnell
Stokes and the Red
Devils made claim to one of the teams to beat the young
man and his team counterparts on the road 69-65. The
game was in the MIAA schedule for 7:30 p.m. and when I
arrived it had under one minute left in the contest due
to it starting at 6:00 p.m. instead. Great game I hated
to miss wholeheartedly.
West Memphis, Ark.
was
lead in scoring by senior
Arthur
Jackson
at 21 points and 7 rebounds. Juniors
DeMarcus
McVoy
with 22 points and
Jalen
Jackson
11 points accordingly in strong fashion.
Memphis Central
was lead in scoring by Stokes at 18 points and 11
rebounds for another double double performance and
teammate Andre Applewhite at 16 points in the cause.
