       Recap 12-16-2010

Craigmont (80) @ Manassas (45)

A mismatch from tip off the Chiefs came to North Memphis and represented as the best team on the north section of town. With a first quarter score of 30-10 Craigmont was in stride all night long as their marquee press gave Manassas the blues all night long as Manassas coaching tried all the guards in the arsenal to alter the outcome to no avail. Craigmont has a very deep team that goes 12 deep and these kids know how to use the press under Coach Taylor's watch. At the end of the first half Craigmont went into the locker room with a commanding 53-23 advantage. First half statistics included maybe a record for real as for turnovers with Manassas committing 15 first half turnovers to the Chiefs only one for accord. Manassas actually rebounded pretty good falling 16-15 in that department. The Chiefs distributed the ball well with a 11-5 ratio. Steals were in Craigmont favor at 6-1 in the category and blocks were actually led by Manassas at 3-2 clip.

Second half was no different as Craigmont kept the pressure on the stunned Tigers watching effortlessly as junior Robert Houston hit a season high 28 points to go along with 4 rebounds on 8-14 shooting and all were shots longer than 15 feet respectively. No else was in double figures for the game but two players were at 9 apiece in senior Kymer Levy and Calvin Chambers who also added 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in a solid performance.

Manassas sophomore Keonda Howard finished with a team high 18 points displaying his nice outside shot.

Key Points of The Game: Craigmont platoon of guards that are all basketball knowledgeable and the main difference from all other teams is their solid and creative presses. Will the press falter or succeed in postseason advancement?
