MEMPHIS HIGH SCHOOL TOP TEN 2008 -2009

Similar to last years preseason picks, there is not a major frontrunner but the teams on top can make some serious noise in the upcoming 2008-2009 high school basketball season. Maybe reignite a past juggernaut in White Station. Class 2009 is rated mild above average but the 2010 and 2011 are strong accordingly. Division AAA is going to be the most competitive in recent years especially on the 16-AAA side with Melrose and Whitehaven expected to go far in postseason. Division AA is gong to be the weakest in memory, original strongholds BTW and Mitchell fall dramatically, with Hillcrest and Sheffield taking their slots like in the 2004 Regional at Southside High School.

Division 2 had a nice run from 2003-2007 that ranks as mediocre compared to Memphis standards but at the same time will fall off contagiously in the upcoming basketball school year. ECS will battle for Division 2 state honors respectively. Raleigh Egypt (AAA)will be as strong as teams past, difference with this years squad is experience plus some great North Memphis aggressive ball players. Olive Branch, MS. should run the Northern section of Mississippi handily. Memphis Central has received some of the best talent in the city recently and will it payoff in 2009?

Bolton and Germantown will take Fairley and Wooddale's place in the Regionals. Germantown will hen it comes to St. George's I seriously want to rank them really high but when I look at their schedule I said, they will win 90% of their scheduled games against nobodies. Nothing against super star Elliot Williams (DUKE), just reality. I didn't make the rules don't get mad at MemphisHoopers. Hold up before anyone says anything, BCS, AP, ESPN all have their rankings formulas depending on many variables and strength of schedule is right at the top. That being the point, can anyone blame the Hoopers staff. If not, then everyone that reads this article what about the Memphis Tigers. Do you think they will be ranked that high playing Southwest, Northwest. Okay done deal!!!!

Transitional periods are always hard and conforming into policies take time relating to basketball measures.

11-25-07 Weekly Breakdown

Raleigh Egypt kept the Number one position  for the second week displaying their talent convincingly. CBHS and Briarcrest moved up a spot apiece. Manassas fell two slots respectively. Nashville Christian Academy was the new mover in the poll with a nice showing at the MLK in Memphis. Ridgeway got everything straight with Sampson Carter and he makes a major difference for the Roadrunners. All other entries either played one game or none for the slight change. Craigmont barely made it into top ten with two losses.
