White Station beats Southwind easy in MLK game

CBL Action: Bulls defeated the Heat 81-67. The Melrose guys came thru for the bulls once again Quinton Lowe 23pts Adonis Thomas 26pts. Heat ended there season with Brandon Roberts (Raleigh Egypt ) 21pts Montrel Crawford (Sheffield) 15pts Ronald Brown (Raleigh Egypt) 14pts. Once again Chris Crawford lead his team to victory with 22pts and the Pistons defeated the T-Wolves 75-79

Area News 9-27-08:

CBL Action: Despite 27pts in the 1st half by Joe Northington (Manassas) the Lakers just didn't have enough in the tank to upset  the Heat. The Lakers had only 5 players once again but played very hard and had a 10pt halftime lead. The Heat had two players with 23pts Montrell Crawford (Sheffield), and Ronald Brown (Raleigh Egypt). Lakers Joe Northing (Manassas) finished with 33pts, Ian Clark (G-Town) 20pts and Jeremy Homes (Raleigh Egypt) 15pts. Pistons Chris Crawford refused to lose against the Knicks. Chris lead his pistons with 27pts in a game that went into overtime. Chris Crawford made clutch shot after clutch shot and the Knicks could not answer. The Knicks were lead by a pair of Melrose players Chris Jones 16 and Nino Johnson 14pts. Pistons Chris Crawford 27 and Sheffield teammate Jamaal Conley 20pts.

  CBL Action: The Bulls beat the Pistons 89-66 lead by a Melrose trio Adonis Thomas 25pts 7rbds 5ast, Quinton Lowe 12pts 8rbds, and Chris Mason 34pts 7-10 from downtown. Chris Crawford (Sheffield) lead the Pistons with 30pts 10rbds. The Heat defeated the Knicks lead by a trio from Raleigh Egypt J. Whitmore 15pts, R.  Fondren 12pts, and R. Brown 16pts 15rbds. The Knicks were lead by Chris Jones, and AJ Cunningham with 17 apiece. One of the most exciting games of the day was the small but very scrappy Lakers taking on the T-Wolves. With multiple lead changes this game went down to the final minutes. The Lakers with only 5 players would not lose without a fight against a T-Wolves (Memphis Trotters) team that has been together all summer. The T-Wolves were lead by Anthony Jones 20pts and Joe Brady 13pts 7rbds (Raleigh Egypt). Lakers were lead by a Manassas duo Joe Northington 21pts 9rbds and JaMarco Carroll 18pts 9rbds 4ast. The T-Wolves won 60-52. In a game that everyone but the Lakers expected to be a total blowout!!!!!

   Action week 4 recap

  The Knicks defeated the  Lakers    86-77.  The Lakers without Reggie Buckner and Tyler Stone refused to lay down easy. lead by Joe Northington (Manassas) 31pts 10rbds 7ast. The winning Knicks was lead by Donavon Humphreys (Southwind) 38pts 7rbds 4ast 4 monster dunks. The second game the Heat defeated the Pistons 97 to 87 lead by Reshard Harris (Raleigh Egypt) 32pts Chris Crawford (Sheffield) 21pts 9ast. The last game the T-Wolver defeated the Bulls.

      Action week 3 Recap                   First game it was the Heat versus T-wolves. The t-wolves won the game 69-66 over the Heat. 5-10 junior point guard Laterick Flowers(kirby) led the T-wolves with 18 pts, 4 rebs and 4 assists. Anthony Jones(Ral. Egypt) added 18 pts and Darius Paige (Southwind) contributed 10 pts,7 assists, and 5 rebs. The Heat were led by Ronald Brown with 19pts in the loss. The  T-wolves are 3-0 and sitting on top of the standings.                                              It was the Lakers upsetting the undefeated Bulls 83-76. Lakers get their first win behind Tyler Stone's 23 pts 8 rebs, and Joseph Northington (Manassas) 18pts, 4 rebs, also Morse Moten (Hamilton) converted 6 3-pointers in the win. The Bulls were handed their first loss behind Quienten Lowe 6-6 junior Melrose 28pts,12 rebs and Adonis Thomas 21 pts ,10rebs, and 7 assists. 

     In the final game of the evening it was the Knicks 90 and the Pistons 87. The Knicks were led behind the  dynamic inside tandem in 6-7 jr. Nate Rucker (Melrose) 26pts 9 rebs, knocking down 2 from long range and 6-5 post Walter Davis (Southwind) 21pts 5 rebs, Telvin Wilkerson 6-5 guard added 5 rebs, 10 assists, and 16 pts in their first victory of the season. The Pistons were led by Jamal Conley (Sheffield) 30 pts 12 rebs and Chris Crawford (Sheffield) 11pts.              CBL Player of the Week- Telvin Wilkerson (Melrose) 16pts, 10assists, and 5 rebs.

Area News 9-02-08:             CBL ACTION:  Final Results Week 2: Memphis CBL Second

 Area News 8-30-08:             CBL ACTION:  Final Results Week 1: Memphis CBL First Weeks Action was definitely a prelude to the upcoming Memphis CBL season. First Weeks action was very interesting to start the season as some of the areas top players make claim to 'who is the best on the hardwood'. Adonis Thomas at 22 points and Chris Mason with 19 points for the (Bulls) while the Heat was led by Ronald Brown (Heat) 24 points and 14 rebounds and Finoy Perkins notched 15 boards and 12 points respectively, both from Raleigh Egypt. Anthony  Jones  (Timberwolves) placed 18 points and 4 assists, Joe Brady also of Raleigh Egypt at 18 points, Tim Flowers (Timberwolves) was team high at 20 points in a win over the Knicks led by Chris Jones  26 points and 8 rebounds, Walter Davis and Daryl Humphreys added 10 apiece, two players at 8 each. The Pistons with Jamal Conley 23 points and Chris Crawford with 22 points on solid outside shooting plus 12 rebounds in the cause with a win over the Lakers  who were led by Westwood's Dominique Shaw and Ridgeway's Boo Marshall at 13 apiece.         Area News 8-28-08:             CBL ACTION:  Schedule for Second Week of CBL is the Bulls vs. Knicks at 1:00 p.m., Second Game is TWolves vs. Pistons at 2:00 p.m., and Third game is the Lakers vs. Heat at 3:00 p.m.  All games at Mississippi Boulevard Church.

Remarkable milestone especially when the last player was overlooked by Memphis John Calipari. Chris Jones (Timberwolves) notches 34 points in a victory over the Bulls who were led by TOP 10 2009 CLASS A.J. Jones (Bulls) who recorded 32 points respectively in the first game, Second game action displayed Sheffield's Chris Crawford (Pistons) and Jamal Conley (Pistons) each posting 23 points each with a win over the Lakers who were led by Westwood's Dominique Shaw and Ridgeway's Boo Marshall at 13 apiece. Stories are viewable.              Area News 8-22-08:             Memphis Hoopers Preseason High School Rankings are out and viewable.  

                                                    Area News 8-19-08:                This is a good one right here compadres. Last year the critics said, "The Hoopers staff is crazy if Reginald Buckner ever gets ranked at all". Well loco critics Buckner is ranked at NO.30 on www.rivals.com. Leslie McDonald at No.55 and Farrakhon Hall not even ranked no more. Hoopers will make another prediction with alot of validity, Buckner have a monster high school season he will definitely be a McDonald's All-American. If this one doesn't happen it will be a close one  and you can at least say, "I made a run at it". One more thing with Leslie McDonald's history on the circuit, he definitely has a great chance of becoming a McDonald All American  also.

Area News 8-11-08:            New rankings are out nationally and White Station's Joe Jackson is ranked in the Top Ten nationally, Congratulations Joe. Last time that feat was accomplished was Mitchell's Thaddeus Young who  finished in the Top Ten. What local area high school had the best class to come in during the first day of school, These additions to area schools will definitely effect the Preseason Rankings which are out and viewable.

 Tony Smith  (Memphis Treadwell) and Tyler Stone (Memphis Central) are close to committing within the next week or two and are other members of the 2008 MemphisHoopers.com 17's to go to the next level. Hoopers job is to get everyone signed on the list to the right, BOTTOMLINE and move on to next years group of young men. Don't you love it when someone is working for you behind the scenes, and in today's world it matters all upmost. The ones that didn't want to listen like the one in the earlier story, look at all the commitments that are pouring in as we speak on all the other sites. I told them to go right but they went left, so keep going left and see what you find.              

Area News 8-06-08:            Memphis CBL with have registration this Saturday August 9 at Mississippi Boulevard Church from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Area News 7-27-08:                 The Jammers of Indiana defeated the MemphisHoopers 17's in bracket play to go on and win the Gold Division in the Nike main Event. Hats off to the Jammers, a very well coached basketball team that sets picks better than anyone in the country and will shoot your lights out.  

                           

 Area News 7-26-08:         MemphisHoopers 17's go 3-2 in Nike Main Event with 7 players. Wins were over Oklahoma Elite, YBP, San Antonio Hawks. Losses were to Cecil Kirk out of Baltimore and the eventual champions Jammers of Terre Haute, Indiana. Hoopers 17's 2008 Roster has 4 players that have been offered Division - 1 scholarship offers this year alone. Remember compadres, Hoopers is a platform for local area kids to showcase their talent on a nationwide level. Hoopers wants to think the local NCAA sanctioned Battle on the Bluff & Leshone Bynum (tournament director) for helping local kids garner their dreams.                     

Area News 7-16-08:         Memphis Stallions win 16 Under Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio and Adonis Thomas MVP. What area principals are out and will it effect the athletics at those specified schools. You know how it goes, you get an athletic principal or a academic principal who really doesn't care about sports at all. e.g. Overton principal could give a %&^% about sports but let it be a trumpet or clarinet. 

 Area News 7-15-08:         Hoopers 17's go 4-2 with wins over rameybasketball.com, Higher Learning Basketball, Brandon Bass Elite, and Tennessee Y Tigers. Only 2 losses are to Nashville Celtics and eventual Tournament champions Birmingham Ice. Memphis War Eagles coached by Frank Harris win AAU Nationals in the 10 Under group. Memphis Stallions make it to the Final Four of 16 Under Nationals.

Area News 5-25-08: The Stallions under the name of M33M Ballers win Silver in the 15U Division Bob Gibbons Tournament in North Carolina. Standout Players: Joe Northington. Tennessee teams fared well in Gibbons with Nashville Celtics and Mid State Ballerz advancing to bracket play. Memphis YOMCA 17's went 2-2 in Nike MDC in Nashville, TN. YOMCA 16's go 2-2 respectively with key wins over Georgia Stars and Team Florida. Memphis YOMCA capture Silver at Nike MDC respectively..       

Area News 5-19-08: Reginald Buckner  of MemphisHoopers 17's records a quad triple double with 24 points, 16 rebounds, 14 blocks and 10 assists in a 79-68 victory over Tennessee Heat. Andre Whitehead of www.tnprephoops was in attendance for the stellar performance. A late ankle injury sidelined Buckner for the remainder of the tournament. John David Little (Olive Branch, MS.) made All Tournament Team with a awesome showing this weekend that made some heads turn. The Hoopers still went 2-2 respectively

Area News 5-14-08: Hoopers 17's play Memphis Pacers this weekend in Nashville. Hoopers 15 & 16's also are participating in same tournament.               

Area News 5-14-08: Note for Parents: It is called sacrificing and if parents don't want to sacrifice but do nothing but criticize. Let me tell all parents something, college scholarships do not fall from the sky. A college coach will not answer your phone in a heartbeat even though you just talked to him the day before of even made a visit to the respected school the past weekend, I have seen it all. Whoppeee Just because you receive literature in the mail, believe me another couple hundred kids got the same letter. It is frustrating when you have negative parents where the Hoopers staff is diligently trying to get all the kids that are in the program into a school. Hoopers record speaks for itself whole heartily. Over 140 kids have gone on to receive college scholarships in the Hoopers organization.  Last year alone there was 11 kids to follow thru.

News 5-11-08: Worldwide Renegades win the Wallace Prather  / Atlanta Celtics Classic.                   

 Area News 5-10-08: MemphisHoopers.com 17's over Tennessee Thunder, fall to Carolina Celtics in pool play action. With a blowout and a 2 hour stand still traffic delay to Atlanta, the Hoopers have to forfeit night game to Birmingham Raptors. Overall Tennessee teams did not fare as well as expected in Wallace Prather Tournament at the beautiful Georgia Tech Recreational Center ( Home to the 1996 Olympic Summer Games).

Area News 5-04-08: MemphisHoopers 17's fall to YOMCA 17's 59-57 in sub state action, YOMCA was led by Leslie McDonald's 12 points. Former Hooper DeMarco Stepter who went on to a successful Juco career signs with Division 1 Texas San Antonio.

Area News 4-26-08: MemphisHoopers 15's lose in sub state action at Bishop Byrne to YOMCA & Storm. Memphis YOMCA 16 & 17's also in action in Dallas at Next Level Ballers Tournament.   

Kingwood Classic Results 4-20-08:                                         1st Game: MemphisHoopers 17's beat Alabama Red 90-74 behind Tony Smith's  (Treadwell) 31 pts., LeMelvis Davis (Wooddale) 15 pts., Lewis Jones (Carver) 13pts., Reginald Buckner (17 rebounds, 10 pts, 8 blocks, 4 assists, 4 steals)  respectively. 2nd Game:  Hoopers defeat Dallas SW Mavs  81-57 with 5 players in double figures, 3rd Game: another balanced scoring debut vs. Team Louisiana in bracket action with a victory 98-68, 4th Game: earning a first round bye (Team Alaska) fall to the Hoopers 73-59, at the same time the Hoopers advance to the final sixteen in the Gold Division. 5th Game:  Hoopers lose to the eventual Gold Division Champions Tennessee YOMCA Tigers in double overtime 70-68.

Kingwood Classic Results: MemphisHoopers 17's fall to Tennessee YOMCA Tigers (Gold Division Champions) in double overtime 70-68. The Tigers John Jenkins (Station Camp - Vanderbilt commit) notched a 12 point first half performance to finish with a game high 23 points. Hoopers 17's go 4-1 with convincing victories behind Tony Smith and Reginald Buckner. Memphis YOMCA 16's and 17's advance while 15's win Gold Division.
